ABOUT THE CITY OF MILAN

Milan (“Milano” in Italian) is one of the largest and most industrialized cities in Italy, it is also a sophisticated, glamorous and cosmopolitan city. In addition, Milan is also an elegant city, which is consolidating day by day as a world design centre, competing with Paris to become the cathedral of fashion. Fashion aficionados flock to Milan twice a year to see and enjoy the latest trends.

“THE LAST DAYS OF THE APOSTLE PAUL”

On October 2, 2021, the Conference was held in the beautiful city of Milan, Italy. After several virtual conferences, this was held in person in one of the countries that suffered the most from the pandemic, there was a  feeling of wanting to return to normality and of Professor Iván’s desire to want to impart his knowledge, which goes beyond obstacles.

In this event we have the participation of more than 200 people, of which 25 attended in person, coming from different parts of northern Italy: Milan, Brescia, Trento, Venice, and from other countries such as Switzerland and Spain.

The event was attended by some CGMJCI pastors from Italy, along with their wives.

The Conference opened with a greeting from our colleague Marzia Monardi, coordinator of the ZIU team of interpreters and translators, in Italian and Spanish, welcoming all the participants. Next, Angels Santana, international director of the ZIU Association events, gave us a few words, mentioning that it was a desire to give a Conference in Italy, an emblematic country full of culture, gastronomy and history.

THE FIRST CONFERENCE WITH ASSISTANCE IN PERSON AND ONLINE

At the event we were joined by special guests like:

  • Mr. Mauricio Betancourt, from Switzerland (Pastor of the CGMJCI and Supervisor of the churches of Belgium, Holland, Italy and Switzerland) and Mr. Humberto Romero, from Mexico

The native students present, were very enthusiastic and participative, they asked very interesting questions about the story of some events that occurred in Italy.

The Conference, like past ones, it was interpreted in sign language and in five languages: German, French, Portuguese, English, and, of course, Italian.

The event ended with a moving moment, in which the entire ZIU Association team and Dr. Iván Darío bid farewell to colleague Marzia Monardi, who, for personal reasons, left the coordination of the team of interpreters and translators. This event once again demonstrated that ZIU is a family, as well as a work team.

¿QuWho was the Apostle Paul?

Paul (or Saul) of Tarsus was born between the year 5 and the year 10 in Tarsus (present-day Turkey). He was the son of Hebrews and a descendant of the tribe of Benjamin. In the book of the Acts of the Apostles, three other points are also pointed out regarding Paul: that he was educated in Jerusalem, that he was instructed by the famous rabbi Gamaliel, and that he was a Pharisee.

Also called the “Apostle of the Gentiles”, he was the founder of different Christian communities, and evangelist in several of the most important urban centers of the Roman Empire such as Antioch, Corinth, Ephesus and Rome. He was also the redactor of some of the earliest Christian canonical writings, the oldest known being the First Epistle to the Thessalonians.

The last stage of Paul’s life, which spans from his arrest in Jerusalem to his presence in Rome, has as its fundamental source the account of the Acts of the Apostles, although the author of this book does not deal with his death, giving rise to multiple interpretations and hypotheses about the final destiny of his life.
